The Maggots - Nobody Loves the Hulk 7"

More Bootleg Booze goodness, this time from the always interesting Maggots, whose condition (ie. devotion to cool garage sounds) is still incurable. Both songs are covers. The A side is a 1969 song by an obscuro band called The Traits and would do as a theme for a remake of the Hollywood remake, with tinkling piano a nice addition. The flip is a medium tempo frat-surf rocker by The Genteels and unless I miss my guess it turned up on one of those Las Vegas Grind compilations about a decade ago. Not as fab as the A but still pretty happening, as is much of what these guys do.

Two cover songs. The Traits’ ”Nobody Loves The Hulk”, a fine upbeat psych rocker, I really like The Maggots have added an organ grinder in the lineup. The flip is The Genteels’ infectious twangy shout fest ”Take It Off” which The Coyote Men also have covered. Green vinyl (of course), limited to 500. Another a winner from Bootleg Booze.
If you dig: Fuzztones, Nomads, Standells

"Nobody loves the Hulk", well I don´t care ´cause my comic hero is LOBO. He´s the master of disaster. Well but let me tell ya I´m in love with THE MAGGOTS and this little treasure on green vinyl. THE MAGGOTS go deep into the garage of the 60ties with the Hulk song. Yeah you know hippshaking and all that stuff. The flipside cuts in the same way with "Take it off" another 60ties pearl. Cool stuff from a cool band and by the way from a cool label with a cool vinyl output!!!

(08/10) (Joachim Hiller, Ox Fanzine #65)
